There are religious people in government who like to toat around the fact that the Declaration of Independance talks a lot about God. Well, see, there’s something else it toats around a lot.
“All men are created equal.”
There’s a problem with this statement and religious thought.
If you’re someone like… oh, say Bush or Ashcroft… you believe you are one of the saved. One of the blessed. One of those who will sit at the right hand of God.
Now, when Bush shakes Ashcroft’s hand, looks him in the eye and says, “Good day,” you know he means it. They’re in the Club together. They’re going to Heaven.
But when he shakes the hand of… oh, let’s say the Prime Minister of Japan, do you think the same respect is in his eyes? In his heart? The Prime Minister of Japan is not a Christian. Worse, he’s not the particular brand of Christian that Doubleya is. That means the Prime Minister of Japan is going straight to
HELL!!!
And when Doublya shakes my hand and looks me in the eye, what does he think about me?
“I’m better than you. I’m a better person than you. I’m blessed. You’re not. I’m saved. You’re not. I’m better than you.”
That’s exactly what’s going through his head.
All men are created equal.
All men are created equal.
All men are created equal.
It’s just some are more equal than others. Amen.
