Fun with The Soliloquator!

John’s AIM “I’m Away” Auto response: I’m in a meeting. Pray for me.

The Soliloquator!:

Dear Odin-

My buddy John is in a meeting. I know you didn’t have meetings Back In The Day, they weren’t your style. They’re pretty much teh suck. It’s like giving up your eye for knowledge, except you don’t get any knowledge but you still have to lose the eye.

Anyway, John’s a great guy and if you could, like, watch out for him and stuff and make sure the meeting doesn’t eat his soul, that’d be great. Yes, sometimes he can be a wangrod, but don’t we all have a little wangrod in us?

kthanxbye!

P.S. Munin keeps pecking at my window. I don’t know why, please ask him to stop.

Hope

I had great reservations about seeing “The Last Samurai.” My agent is pitching around a samurai script, so I honestly hoped it did well…

And then I noticed the writer/director…

Edward Zwick.

You know, the guy who directed Glory.
And Courage Under Fire.

Now, there is still reservation… but there’s much more hope.

Weekend Update

Friday
I planned on going dancing, hanging out with , but those plans fell through when friends from out of town showed up, ready for the Coup. Next weekend, I promise. If things go as I suspect, I’ll need dancing.

We hung out, ate dinner, talked about the event. Had a lot of fun. I’m slowly getting over a crush. Slowly.

I went to bed around 2:00. They stayed up with The Overtimer to talk about Coup plans until 5:00. In the morning. Wow. Color me impressed… and flattered.

Saturday
Woke up early. Like 7:00 in the morning. Couldn’t sleep. Looked over my notes again. Took a shower, made ready for the day. Folks started arriving. Some later than others. We got word the Phoenix and Crab wouldn’t be coming. Made me sad.

At peak, we had twelve people in the apartment. I’ve run games that big before, but not this important. At least, to me. This is the culmination of almost a year of running the game for my friends, completing a story I started many years ago.

The Coup started at 3:00 PM. I called game at 11:00 PM. And I almost got lynched. I guess that’s another compliment. We went out to eat and talked about the events of the day and the Big Twist. Half the party wants to support Shoju and the other half doesn’t know what to do.

Mission complete. Two more days.

Sunday
Hung out with friends for the first half, watched The Rundown that night. Lots of fun. More fun than I expected. I like the “ronin who won’t use his swords” hero. Highly recommended.

An exhausting weekend. Hopefully, this week will be less so.

My father goes into the hospital on Friday.

A Terse Evening

Spending an evening with friends who came down early for tomorrow’s bloodbath — I mean “game.” They came down because I was bored and lonely. I had the chance to go out to a club with another friend, but that fell through. I’m just…

Talked with Jennifer on Wednesday. Long, sad talk. I lost her. She lost me. We broke something that can’t be fixed.

Tom’s singing about the Big Black Mariah, and suddenly, everything is a little happier. Tony’s looking over the map. Cheryl’s changed into bedclothes. James wants to talk about Dragon lands.

Tomorrow is something I’ve wanted to do for almost seven years. And I’m doing it with some very good friends. I’m gonna kill ’em. A lot of ’em.

And they’ll love me for it.

Yeah. Dancing. In my house.

“Here come tha Big Black Mariah!”

“Oh yeah.”

Cute…

My journal says I’m 52% masculine.
What does your LJ writing style say about your gender?

I thought the feminine percentage would be higher, actually. 🙂

There’s a chance…

A very small chance Marcus will be singing tomorrow…

I Wish I Was in New Orleans

Well, I wish I was in New Orleans
I can see it in my dreams
arm-in-arm down Burgundy
a bottle and my friends and me
hoist up a few tall cool ones
play some pool and listen to that
tenor saxophone calling me home
and I can hear the band begin
“When the Saints Go Marching In”
by the whiskers on my chin
New Orleans, I’ll be there

I’ll drink you under the table
be red nose go for walks
the old haunts what I wants
is red beans and rice
and wear the dress I like so well
and meet me at the old saloon
make sure there’s a Dixie moon
New Orleans, I’ll be there

and deal the cards roll the dice
if it ain’t that ole Chuck E. Weiss
and Clayborn Avenue me and you
Sam Jones and all
and I wish I was in New Orleans
I can see it in my dreams
arm-in-arm down Burgundy
a bottle and my friends and me
New Orleans, I’ll be there
