Shame

I used to be angry at my government.

Now, I am officially ashamed to call myself an American.

US and Iran Join Forces In Anti-Gay Cause

In a reversal of policy, the United States on Monday backed an Iranian initiative to deny United Nations consultative status to organizations working to protect the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people. In a letter to Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, a coalition of 40 organizations, led by the Human Rights Campaign, Human Rights Watch, the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission, and the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, called for an explanation of the vote which aligned the United States with governments that have long repressed the rights of sexual minorities.

Invictus Book Update

This is ironic. I just got off the phone last night with Ron Edwards. I was telling him he was stepping over the line with his “brain damage” nonsense. It’s funny because I was doing the exact same thing.

I apologize to all the people who worked on the Invictus book. My comments were rude and unprofessional.

I feel I have valid concerns about both the Invictus book and the Camarilla, but instead of discussing them rationally, I got snippy in a public forum.

All of you deserve better than that.

Denver Abolishes Marijuana Penalties

Denver, CO: Denver voters yesterday approved a city-wide measure to eliminate all civil and criminal penalties for the possession of up to one ounce of marijuana by citizens age 21 and older.

It should be noted, again, that this author does not smoke pot.

At the same time, members of our government spend time imbibing a substance that:

a) causes violent behavior,
b) causes liver cancer, and
c) causes life-changing addiction

… none of which can be said of marijuana.

Imbibing marijuana is a crime.
Drinking yourself stupid is the American Way of Life.

I Got Two Words fer Ya

(thanks to )

My buddy is gonna call this the dumbest thing since… well, just dumb.

But, of course, if you think this is dumb, I’ve got just two words fer ya:

Freedom Fries.

Invictus

After sending off about 24 faxes, I picked up a copy of the Invictus book to see what all the hullaballoo was about. Many people I admire and respect were talking about how “broken” the Disciplines, Blood Oaths and other mechanics were. I had to see it for myself.

Well, I am here to report that those people I admire and respect are wrong. Invictus is not “broken.” Far from it.

No. Invictus is, by far, the Worst Thing White Wolf Has Ever Produced.

Invictus isn’t just broken, it breaks the entire game.

I’m seriously considering withdrawing from the Cam all together.

Here are three examples.

Happy Singles Awareness Day!

I’m off to Kinkos to use their fax machine.

I have 30 faxes to make.

This is not Valentine’s Day in Wickland. Today is Free Rent Day.

Oh, and in case you haven’t heard, the Vice President busted a cap in somebody’s ass over the weekend.

(Actually, it wasn’t his ass; Cheney shot him in the face. In the FACE!)

Vice President Cheney shot a man in the head on Saturday, and 21 hours later you had to be looking at the Web page of the Corpus Christi Caller-Times to find out about it. Today, as White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan picked buckshot out of his own hide, he said “the vice president’s office was working to make sure information got out. We learned additional information overnight—throughout the night. We were learning additional information here in Washington.”

If the vice president’s office was “working,” it was working awfully slowly. They didn’t even let McClellan know until 6 a.m. Sunday morning, 12 hours after the hunter had been “peppered.” McClellan, by focusing on the distinction between what was going on “here in Washington” and what might have been going on down on the ranch, tried an unusual strategy for such a unified administration: to separate the president from the vice president…

[Camarilla] SWRE 2006 XP

Does anybody know how much xp the event was worth?

We attended Friday and Saturday night Requiem.

(I wouldn’t ordinarly ask, but I’m damn close to a fifth dot and I’m getting impatient.) 😉

Sedition

NEW YORK.

Sen. Jeff Bingaman (D-N.M.) has asked Veterans Affairs Secretary James Nicholson for a thorough inquiry of his agency’s investigation into whether a V.A. nurse’s letter to the editor criticizing the Bush administration amounted to “sedition.”

Merely opposing government policies and expressing a desire to change course “does not provide reason to believe that a person is involved in illegal subversive activity,” he said. Bingaman said such investigations raise “a very real possibility of chilling legitimate political speech.”

For those of you who are curious, here’s a brief primer on the Alien and Sedition Acts… which have never been tested in a court.

We’ll see what happens.
