The film has subverted the entire theme of this wonderful book with one small change.
Nazis win WWII and take over Britain.

When Moore was writing V for Vendetta, Margaret Thatcher was trying to get a law passed that would make homosexuality illegal. Not only illegal, but obliterate it from existence. It would be against the law to speak of it.

Mind crime. Mind crime. Mind crime.

The whole point of the novel is this: If we let them have power, they’ll take it.
And now — RIGHT NOW — could ANY message be more important for the American people to hear?

But no. We get Nazis. Turn V into Indiana Jones. Wonderful.
