Another casualty of the lifestyle.

My new Neopedia story is up. One of my favorites…

WE LIKE THE MOON!
Okay, this is for everybody, but especially for someone who’s feeling a little down.
Marcus will sing this. Don’t think he won’t.

Paladin of the Goddess of Thieves
So, there’s been a lot of talk about someone running a D&D game in the office. Eventually, someone who played L5R at a con with me as GM said, “Let’s get John to run it. He’s like the best GM EVAAAAR!!!”
My boss said, “Yeah. John can run.”
So, I’m running a D&D game. But, with a few minor provisions.
First, they’re all playing thieves. (An idea The Great and Terrible Frog has been running, but one I’ve wanted to do for a very long time.) They’ll be a crew.
I pitched this idea and everybody liked it. Then, little Lady D. — who only comes up to my shoulders — says, “I usually play paladins.”
“You can be a thief-paladin,” I told her. “A paladin of the Goddess of Thieves.”
“Ooo,” she says. “That’s cool.”
“You get to be the heavy,” I tell her. Little Lady D. About the size of a dime. She’s the heavy. Ain’t gettin’ no cooler than that.
What you can get me for my birthday…
No, I’m not telling you when it is. Just get it now and you’ll be covered.
Vampire Hunters, Ninja, Pirates… What’s Next???
Two words.
Con men.
I can’t wait.
The End of Pro Wrestling
Last night, the WWE destroyed their last best chance at saving their company. Now, all I can do is look forward to is the long, slow death of professional wrestling.
They let Goldberg go 18 minutes last night. Exposed all his weaknesses. By the end of the match, the crowd was cheering for the Rock (the heel) and booing Goldberg. Should have been a ten second squash match. It would have gotten Goldberg over faster than greased lightning.
The Kliq is back. Kevin Nash, HHH, and Sean Micheals buried everybody else in the match, focusing everything on themselves.
No Benoit on the PPV. Their best tech man and he’s nowhere near the ring.
Big Show almost killed Rey Mysterio, Jr. in a sloppy move that had no other purpose than get himself over. Sent him straight to the hospital (they’re making it a work, but he really was at the hospital getting skull x-rays).
They’ve had every money angle handed to them on a silver platter this year, and they’ve screwed them all up. They’ve got Paul Heyman — the most brilliant wrestling mind in modern times — on the shelf while they have ex-sitcom writers booking wrestling matches.
This is it. The WWE is in its final days. It’ll take longer than WCW, but if they don’t change things NOW, they’ll be in the same boat.
A Little Game of L5R…
Two new players last night: The Prince and his -ling. Never played, barely even heard of the game. We started at 8:00 and the next thing I knew, it was 2:00 AM.
The Prince tells me, “That’s one helluva game there, Mr. Wick.”
It’s 10% game. The rest is the players. Throw in a dash of a GM who knows what he’s doing, and you’ve got yourself some fun.
They’re down in Crab lands, surrounded by goblins and other nastiness. So far, they’ve seen a glimpse of the HORROR that awaits them. Next week… oh, man.
The Crab is having the time of his life. The Lion gets to move miniatures around. The Crane is hoping reinforcements arrive soon. Poor Crane. The shugenja is running out of spells fast. The Prince is Niten daddy and the -ling is the Lion’s yojimbo; a role he’s very familiar with and happy to play. And dammit — if he ain’t the best there is.
Oh — and the Wasp missed. If that ain’t an omen, I don’t know what is.
Damn this is fun.
Cam Game Redux
Trekhead is already talking about the game last night on his journal, so I’ll keep my notes brief.
I had a lot of fun. We had a ton of obstacles to jump over, but I think we did pretty well, considering.
Having Marcus show up was tricky. He needed to meet a couple of people before they went away, and my Irish blood couldn’t resist the temptation of singing at my own wake. So, I kept it quick.
The players always make the game, and we had some great ones. Thanks to everyone who showed up and contributed. You guys really made us look better than we deserved. 🙂
