Gaming Meme

from Mr. Blair: a gaming meme.

1. What is the first RPG you ever played?

Call of Cthulhu.

2. What RPG do you currently play most often?

Right now? None. I haven’t played an RPG in a while. I’m looking forward to GenCon SoCal to change that.

3. What is the best system you’ve played?

Oh boy. Um… I can’t say “best” because that’s a matter of taste. My favorite game system is not something I designed, but Jared’s octaNe thingy. I like the way it flows. The Secret Lives of Gingerbread Men was a hoot.

4. What is the best system you’ve run?

I’m told the best game I run is either L5R or Vampire. I’m gearing up for an Ars Magica game when I get my hands on 5th Edition.

5. Would you consider yourself an: Elitist/ Min-Maxer/ Rules Lawyer?

That’s funny. Just last night, my roomie Rob said I was an elitist (in a funny, constructive criticism way). I guess that means I’m discerning about what I play. Although, I can be a rules cruncher. Just ask my Tremere deck. And my assassin-priest. 🙂

6. If you could recommend a new RPG which would you recommend? Why?

I’m assuming “new” means “you haven’t played it before.” Well, if you haven’t tried octaNe, you should. You are really missing out if you don’t. Also, the forthcoming Secret Lives of Gingerbread Men is a riot. Ars Magica 5th looks promising as does Blue Rose.

7. How often do you play?

Not as much as I would like.

8. What sort of characters do you play? Leader? Follower? Comic Relief? Roll-Player/ Role-Player?

Look at the characters I write for my games. That should give you an idea.

9. What is your favorite Genre for RPGs?

Genre doesn’t enter into it. I like telling the hero’s story. “It’s the only tale worth telling.” — Joseph Campbell

10. What Genres have you played in?

Name it, I’ve played it.

11. Do you prefer to play or GM? Do you do both?

GM.

12. Do you like religion in your games?

Religion is an answer to “What does your character believe?” That’s the important question.

13. Do you have taboo subjects in your games or is everything “fair game”?

Elfworld. 2005.

14. Have you developed your own RPG before?

No. I just stole other people’s ideas and put my name on ’em.

15. Have you ever been published in the Gaming Industry? If so…what?

See above.
