Hi, I’m John, and I’m your host for “Pictures from DarkCon.”
Ladies and gentlemen, the amazing, talented, and insanely funny Mr. Ken St. Andre. The Troll Lord himself was a great inspiration to myself as a young game designer. If you’ve ever played Tunnels and Trolls, Stormbringer, or any of Ken’s other games, you owe him a pint and a thank you. I got him both. Ken was wonderful company all weekend.
Another familiar face–whom became more familiar over the course of the show–was Liz Danforth. Liz has helped define the look of both L5R and 7th Sea as well as just about every other gaming world. Her style, candor, wit, and company kept me smiling all weekend long.
And then there was Jewel. Never got a chance to say “Hi!” She was busy with everyone else finding an excuse to say “Hi!” so I let them all do it for me.
Another guest was Peter Mayhew; another fellow I never got to chat with. But his sense of humor was on full display all weekend.
These two gentlemen–and I do use the term loosely–are Jessie (in center) and Chris (on right). I spent most of my time with these guys, playing lots and lots of games. And, of course, I had another friend with me, sitting in my pocket.
The costume contest was a riot. The day’s big winner was this fellow, who danced his way to the Best in Show prize.
Speaking of costumes… did I mention the abundance of beautiful women wearing costumes all weekend long?
Uh, yes. More beautiful women wearing costumes.
Okay. In the middle of beautiful women wearing costumes came this guy. And WOW! was he a riot.
And now, ladies and gentlemen, Nola giving us the big tease…
… and the big reveal.
Dancing with Discordia.
And, the Sunday crash. Gee, do I really have six and a half hours of driving ahead of me?
