This year, Jann S. Wenner, the founder of Rolling Stone magazine will be inducted in the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame. Quite an honor. But, there’s a trick, you see.

He’s inducting himself.

Mr. Wenner is one of the founders of the HoF, one of its chairmen and still holds significant pull at the HoF.

Meanwhile, his buddy, Seymour Stein has inducted bands like the Talking Heads and the Ramones on their first ballots. Why? Because those bands are both on Sire Records… and Stein is the founder of Sire records.

Paul Simon has been inducted twice. TWICE.
Paul McCartney has been inducted twice. TWICE.
Eric Clapton has been inducted twice. TWICE.

In 1996, they inducted Bowie, Pink Floyd and the Velvet Underground. Three key figures in rock ‘n’ roll music, to be sure. Right there with Jefferson Airplane. Did they ever do any song other than WHITE RABBIT? Can anybody name a single Airplane song other than WHITE RABBIT? Can they? I doubt it.

In 1997, they inducted the Jackson Five. The most vanilla black group in the history of the world.

In 1999, they inducted Dusty Springfield. Whuddafugg?!?!? When did she do a rock ‘n’ roll song?

In 2000, they inducted James Taylor. JAMES FUCKING TAYLOR!!! When the hell was JAMES FUCKING TAYLOR ROCK ‘N’ ROLL?!?!!? I mean, I DIG James Taylor… but he’s about as rockin’ as Dan Folgleburg, fer Chrissakes.

In 2001, they inducted Michael Jackson.

Mr. Wenner has even gone on record saying, “Rush will never be inducted in the HoF. Their sales aren’t good enough, their music isn’t compelling or original, and they aren’t influential.”
