Weekend Update

Friday
Went to my first Cam game in — I think — four months. has a new character that’s Da Bomb, and we never get a chance to play together. One of us is always running. So, I put Walker’s ring on and headed off to the game, bringing and The Scab in tow.

Now, I’m a firm believer in bringing your own fun, so I had a lot to do. , on the other hand, was bored to tears. (Sorry! >.<) Walker got to meet up with Lucian and laid the seeds for a long and fruitful Will Graham/Hannibal Lector relationship. As for his other significant encounter: he can solve that puzzle box. He’s just wondering if he should.

And let’s not forget Bradley showing up. The old crew together again. 🙂

The end of the game brought me mixed feelings. For some reason, never gets roleplaying nods. I mean NEVAH!. He never complains, never even brings it up. It’s just something that I notice. His Buddha Nature won’t let himself be proud like that. However, that night, he got about five. Hot damn, I was so happy. He deserves them. But, then, the ST announced “I believe good roleplaying is its own reward, so nobody gets any bonus xp.”

shrugged. “He’s right,” he told me, his damn Buddha smile shining. My Buddha Bruddah can’t win for losin’. 😉

Saturday

Slept in late. Spent the day preparing for the OWbN game.

Lazy day. Got nothing done.

Night. No energy for the game.

Crashed around 10:00.

The truth about the matter was this. The Year from Hell is almost over. I think I’ve been in the chrysalis long enough. But, I’m not quite ready. Almost. I can smell the sweet spring air, taste the dew on my tongue. My new wings are still soft and cannot carry me. I’m almost ready, but it’s taking all the energy I have.

Sunday

My 10th Annual 25th Birday Jimmy Buffett Bash!

I discovered a new recepe for Margaritas. Good Gawd, ya’ll!

I got some presents — which were very kind; thank you all — and I gave my friends one in return.

The L5R game was my first in two months, and the burn-out is gone. There was no ring rust, no hesitation. Thrown into a difficult situation, my players performed admirably. I was so proud. You guys rocked.

With the weekend over, I’m looking at New Years with some hesitation, excitement, doubt, and wonder. Last year was the first year in a long time I didn’t kiss anybody at midnight. A loooong time. Last year, I cried on New Years.

This year, I think I’ll be kissing everyone in sight. 🙂
