Gen Con Immediate Thoughts

The show was strange for me. Good, but strange. I will have a more detailed report later, but the pertinent facts are:

  • Half the books I packed in my suitcase (it took me two hours to do it right) were missing when I opened my suitcase at the show. I brought 80 copies of CAT and 60 copies of PLAY DIRTY and had only 20 of each. Also, my stuff was rifled through and many books were damaged. Yes, I filed a claim. Like that will do any good.
  • I got to meet new people who were wonderful. I played one game. That will lead to something later.
  • I had two important conversations that will change the way I interract with the game industry. One of them made me happy and one of them made me sad.
  • I was loaded on drugs (two, in fact: a muscle relaxant and a pain killer) which caused my behavior to be… let’s say it was erratic. The combination of adrenaline, excitement and drugs! messed me up and I know I said at least one thing that I should have said differently.

It could have been a better Gen Con for me, but it was a great Gen Con for everyone else. More later.
